Wedding Stationery Trends 2016

Here are some popular wedding stationery trends for 2017.

Wedding stationery tends to follow trends which at present include bold statement florals,  geometric shapes and botanical themes.  Watercolour techniques and handpainted flowers elegantly executed set the tone for romance;   Rustic lace, ribbon and pearls tell us a story;  Box invitations inspired by hollywood and passport invitations for destination weddings. On the flip side to heavily embellished invitations we have also seen a return to simplicity – classic minimalist invitations without any folds, some with playful font usage, others in traditional styling with a hint of gold foiling.

Boho will be big in 2017, as is the continued popularity of lasercut stationery, in particular personalized invitations. Letterpress printing is sometimes requested, and while it is a beautiful technique is quite limiting and costly.

We expect to see more perspex invitations this year too as it’s a stylish not-seen-before technique.  If you have the budget for it, prepare to WOW your guests!

Whether you choose to follow these trends or theme your stationery to match the wedding venue is up to you. Brides often already have a colour in mind, since your wedding day is something you’ve dreamt about since you were a little girl! Fuchsia Designs will help translate your vision into something really special that describes you.

Here are some tips:-

COLOURS
- Monochrome colours including black, gold, white and silver
- Vintage colours in ivory, blush pink, nude, champagne & rose gold
- Pastel shades, and in particular mint, coral & peach
- Pantone colour of the year “greenery”
- Neutral tones with rich accent colours like Burgundy, Plum & Wine Red

Show the versatility of a single colour by experimenting with textures like lace or ribbon. This can also be
achieved by embossing or foiling. Use strong design elements to make a statement and build from there.

EMBELLISHMENTS
Embellishments are always a popular feature, adding excitement and interest whether diamante brads, bold floral prints or use of photography. Laser cut motifs in wood & perspex or handmade paper flowers are a fitting way to marry your invitations with floral decor on the day, setting the tone for your guests. Vintage never goes out of fashion, so why not play this up with soft dreamy colours, lace and ribbon.
